This is something I invented a few years ago and use it on any size jig - even as light as 1/32 with a #8 hook. In fact, recently I went to that jig with micro baits no larger than 1 1/4" and
one lure caught over 30 fish and never slid down once! 
No one on any forum has tried it, but maybe it may be of use for one of you adventurous guys.

The wire can also be used to keep bass jig trailer in place. Wrap the wire once around the jig hook, bend the two ends into an L and insert them into the top of the trailer.:
