PB Perch
« on: 01/01/26 18:39 UTC »
Caught my personal best perch the last Saturday of December 2025 in one of my home lakes. This 14” perch may not seem big to some, but I was an inch and a half away from owning the WV state record for length. I was vertical jigging a vibe lure that I had foiled and airbrushed. I sent in paperwork to at least request a citation for it.

That's a good perch and the bait is pretty slick too!

I struggle to get a decent foil job. Your bait looks really nice.

Thanks Tom. I have a few others I’ve been working on over the holidays that I’ll post.

Cool lures & great Perch! Congratulations!

I remember that we caught some big perch in MD waters years ago when I was a kid, not a lot of them, but enough mixed in with the smaller ones to be interesting.

Now, the MD DNR just issued new regs there further reducing the creel limits, yet it seems increasing the commercial catch allotments.  :(

There was streams near where I grew up, that when the perch were in them spawning, it looked like you could walk across on their backs, there was so many. That's not the case now, and hasn't been for many years.

Since moving here to SC 10 years ago, I've only caught 2 small Yellow Perch, and about a half dozen White Perch, and all only around 5" to 7" long.   ::)

Awesome perch BT. That vibe bait looks amazing. Like bigjim, the biggest perch I've ever caught was about 6".

I've taken some hog perch out of the Mississippi River while jigging walleyes. I've also taken some super dutys in South Dakota, most of them thru the ice. Open water, ice, the tanks go back so their genetics gets back in the water. For that matter, I basically don't keep perch.

Nice. I think a perch is neat looking.
