With the river in flood stage from all the water coming from upstream (thanks for that!)...I went over to Lake Winona to do some bluegill fishing.

I've been doing a lot of drop shot fishing lately on the river so I thought I would try it for bluegills in the deeper water in the lake (15 to 20 ft)...just off from the beds. I really like the new VMC spin shot hooks and the small size is a perfect size for the 1.75" small fry. Add the smallest weight you can ....given the depth and wind conditions....and your ready to go with no line twist.

Bottom line...those big deep water bluegills really...really like the small fry!

I really like my minnow color,,, which is pearl silver smoke on the bottom and pearl silver smoke with a touch of CCM green  on the top..

Knock 'em dead Andrew.  Not only are they fun to catch; they taste good as well.  Did you use a scent?
