4.5 swim shad
« on: 07/22/12 05:34 UTC »
Just got this mold.  One bait shoots perfect and the other comes out with a dent.  I've tried clpimg different, shooting at 3 different temps.  Always the same though. The bottom bait has dents and the top one is perfect.  Any thoughts?

Most dents can be attributed to one of three things , time , temperature , pressure . Are you keeping the pressure on for a few seconds and are you topping off your mold so as the plastic shrinks it can draw from the sprue .

I shot the mold at 350 340 and 325.  I top the mold off. I'll try the pressure.  Thank you.

Your welcome , By the way some molds will dent or not fully shoot if you have them clamped too tight . Never had a CCM mold that dented but I have others that will . One in particular is a ribbon tail . I have to shoot it at 360 and tighten the bolts finger tight only or that sucker will drive you to drink.

Go as cool  as you can. Dents are caused by the uneven cooling within a large area of plastic. I think there is another thread on this issue....and that was the recommendation (along with holding pressure).
