I would try to price them like stick baits in the area.

WOW! Maybe I should keep my 4" mold! No way you get that down here.... To much competition for sure. To many injections companies here too. Cheap baits are everywhere!

My guess would be around 0.32 to 0.38 per bait. So, $3.20 to $3.80 for a 10 pack...

Academy and some other big retailers RETAIL 10 pk of a very productive carrot like bait for $3.25 (3.75 in)...so they are paying around $2.00 or less.

just sayin'...

But you also have to factor in the "custom" aspect, you can't go to Academy and pick up a bag of laminated carrots with eyes (not at this Academy at least).

True Drew! Just have to FIND that market that is willing to pay and get your baits in front of them. Costs $$$ to do that as well so it is catch 22.

You also have to prove some way that the laminate with eyes with outfish the plain 0.32 bait. Hard to do as well.

I fight this all the time with my custom stuff and it is tough!

Very true, I am still in a small market in a rural area allowing me to get the "wow" factor on looks alone. Hopefully soon my site will be finished and I can start pushing into a larger market.

Did you get my voicemail by chance?

Definitely a line you have to find. Price them high and you wont get any sales no matter how good they look. Lots of wow on www.

To low and your time isnt worth it.

Find your price and carve a niche. That is what i have tried to do.

Jim

Ps. Guess not Drew. My phone is screwy

I do think u can get a little more if u do custom colors with a quick turn around time...and in Jim's case, he makes great custom baits.
Truth is a lot of baits catch fish..and the carrot is one of them...but price is a huge factor. Look at Zoom's prices..CHEAP!!! and they do a lot of new stuff every year.

Always start high though. You can always come down but it is very hard to go up.
