Copperhead

I have a color of powder paint I love, it is copperhead of course, and I am looking for a match to that for a bait color. I found the Copperhead pearl but not sure it will be transparent enough. I also want to add copper glitter to match the powder paint. Anyone have any suggestions?

The best I can tell the powder paint has orange, green, pink, copper and blue glitter in it. It has turned out to be a killer Coho spinner blade color and I think it might be a great color in a egg skirt bait or even an egg pattern.

Most pre-mixed pearls give a very transparent look unless you add pretty much. The hi-lite powders on the other hand, will give you that opaque look you want. A little goes a LONG way!

Here is my Copperhead.

It's opaque. Actually used black plastic. Never tried the pearl powder in clear though.

With most pearl powders, I use at least a couple drops of a color with the pearl. So if you are making blue, you might add a blue colorant to the pearl to give it kick.

I use 2 drops of black in 4oz with my copper powder as well.

I use a pearl copper and a couple of drops of amber and orange to get a copper colour and add black and copper fleck. Found you have to add the copper a little at a time and really stir it well

I do one using 4 ounces of plastic with 2 drops each of fluorescent orange and fluorescent pink, then a ton of copper .015. The plastic is a slight flesh color but the copper flake makes it vibrate.

MonteSS, what is that formula if you will share it. That looks a lot like the copperhead I use now.

I guess it doesn't need to be and I probably don't want it transparent. The copperhead powder paint is put on over nickel plated spinner blades so it isn't transparent. I think the combination of glitter colors and the copper color are what make the difference.

Also, anyone know if CSI glitter will work in plastics? I have many colors already and it would make it easier than ordering 4-6 different colors.

I made this a while ago and have it as...

8 oz plastic
20 drops black
2 smidge copper pearl (from automotive paint supplier)
1/2 tsp 035 copper

Not sure what CSI glitter is.
