X2 Charteuse?
« on: 08/22/12 09:55 UTC »
Using twininjectors with 10 drops X2 Chartreuse on bottom the color tends to turn green first time it happened was using black as a top color switched to a watermelon top color same thing. The X2 chartreuse is a awesome color but having trouble getting it to hold its color using it with anything else. Is it something I am doing wrong? Noticed on the cold steel picture the tail turned green.

It actually is not turning green, just looks like it is. Next to black or any other green color, you will get a green look. It is more green where the colors meet and then less as you move away from the meeting of the colors.

All chartreuse colors will do this however the others will bleed into your black or watermelon after a short period. X2 will not.

PS  A great way to see this (thought I had a picture) is to just pour some X 2 into one of your mold sprues and then wait a few seconds (10- 15) and pour some black or watermelon in.

In a wide body bait or space, you can see that the chartreuse stays its true color but just appears to change at the interface of the 2 colors.

You can make a SWEET bumble bee color by alternating these colors into a 2 piece mold. Either by using 2 seperate injectors or hand pouring into a mold. Totally killer looking...

IDK looks like it is turning green to me?
Mine was the exact same color as the tail in this picture except the entire bottom turned.
Went ahead and shot about 20 baits black and Chartreuse (green) They actually looked good just not what I was trying for.
Thanks for reply.

It's just the light and colors around it.  Notice when the orange stops, it has nothing to offset the steel color and it appears to change.  You can take them and cut them apart and see they are the same.  Try cutting yours and see if it has truly changed, or if it is just an optical effect of 2 colors being next to each other.

Here is what I was talking about.... First, the colors seperate from my twinjector. Took the colors out after pouring the baits and then shooting the baits so it had been cooked at least four times.

Then, some frogs poured one color and the next. You can see where the chartreuse is not near the black, it is not green looking but looks green when near or mixed.

Last, I laminated the black and X2 chartreuse. Barely can tell it is chartreuse, looks lime green.

Excuse the cold cracks or lines you see in the frogs please!!! Did these in haste just to get the pics.

Check these craws also. Little skirt matching. Even next to a brownish color, you get that green look.

Thanks Drew. It is a laminate body with chartreuse tail. All hand poured in closed 2 piece mold! Hard to do since you cannot see how much chartreuse is down in mold.

Thanks Jim As always your stuff looks great. Really do think you are one of the best if not the best at this stuff.
My baits looked like your 3rd picture. What glitter you using in that last picture I stopped trying to put glittler
in Chartuese tried 3 or 4 different glitters and no matter which one I used it knocked the shine off of the color.

I do something similar in the same mold but instead of pouring them back to back I pour the "claw" color in just enough for the claws and while its cooling i shoot other molds at the end of the mold run I open that split tail mold and cut the claws off then place them back into the mold and follow up with the body color.

Got tired of having to stop, take molds apart and cut so I just do it by feel now and can knock them out without stopping. After a while, you can get them perfect and I know there is no danger of the tail not attaching. It was just a time thing for me.

On the glitter used, that is small black flake, 0.015. I never use anything bigger and lots of times use 0.008 in chartreuse. That small and tiny flake goes a looong way so you don't need much.

Thanks for the compliments. I learn new tricks and get new ideas from this forum. I read and look over other bait pics and something pops. Always trying to give back as well since I was helped back in the day by Chris from Al's Worms!!!! He was the MAN when it came to hand pouring!

Thanks for showing the difference ghost.  I've been using MF transparent chartreuse and use a few 100 drops in cup of plastic.  Think I need to order some of this x2.  How many drops are you using to achieve this color.
