Grape Jelly....
« on: 08/24/12 15:42 UTC »
A friend a couple blocks away has a fence full of some real nice dark grapes that aren't really like a Concord, nor are they wild. They are just sort of in between. I think that his concord grapes in his back yard got crossed back with a wild grape and the resultant seeds got placed where these vines are at by birds. No matter, these grapes make an outstanding jelly. Last night while Ma and I were on our evening stroll we stopped by to yack at said friend and he mentioned that these grapes were ready and that he had no plans for them. So......................

I did up a double batch this morning and just had a sample on some toast. Lets just say that this jelly will stay close to our kitchen. Man is it good.

I've got more tomato sauce simmering at this moment...its future has something to do with tomorrow's dinner entree.

Ma's after me to do up another batch of Jalepeno Jelly for her. This hot concoction gets spooned over a brick of cream cheese and gets spread on crackers and usually sees a copious amount of beer handy. I like hot, but HOT with cream cheese and beer isn't real high up on my list. My raspberry/jalepeno jelly is a bit more temperate. Not much, but a little. And I like some fruit flavor not straight up pepper taste.

Homemade grape jelly and fried Biscuits.  That's what we ate at my grandmas house all the time.  She stills makes me some every year. And Some times she even makes fried chicken and biscuits for all of the family to eat.

Man she can cook.
