After a long week, I need to get out and do some fishing. We have been back in 90+ degree weather again and still have another week till Labor day weekend, so night fishing was the key. Temps on the lake have dropped 10* to 78 since the last trip a couple weeks ago. We motored around in search of some marks on the fishfinder, tonight it looks like the 18-22 foot would be the range. We set with a glow light and in a short time we had some minnows gathering.

It is kind of funny the looks you get from other boaters when you have a 30-35 foot green halo around the boat. We started with CCM 2.5 swim fry (my glow green and glow red) one is rigged with a center weighted tube jig head the other is rigged with a slick jig head. Both rigging's make these great search baits. The tube jig head gives the bait a darter action and slick jig a glider action. Use a swivel!!! I like the invisaswivel by aquatek.
After working the active fish, I like to change to a Cubby jig head and will down size to the 1.75 Swim Fry if needed to work fish closer to the boat. These two set ups out fished live minnows at least 8 to 1. My fishing partner Frank hooked into a big fish, the problem we never saw it. It just kept peeling drag and running such light line there is nothing else you can do, just makes for some good ribbing the rest of the night in the boat and keeps hopes high wondering what it could have been. Just enough for a dinner, a couple Gills and Crappie.
