Small Fry Laminates
« on: 09/09/12 22:56 UTC »
I didn't want to hi-jack the post about hand pouring the nano fry and small fry so I started a new topic.  I just ordered the small fry along with the laminate plate.  My question is with it being a 12 cavity mold and the lures on either side of the runner, what is the easiest way to remove the runner after using the laminate plate and before injecting the second color?  I know as soon as I receive this mold, I am going to want to run right out to the shop and use it, so I want to get my question out of the way.  Thanks in advance!

I lay my hand down on the plate with the runner between my pointer and middle finger and pull the runner from between them while pressing down on the heads of the baits.  Then re-seat the baits -- especially in the nose of the head.  remember to inject the second color slower and a little on the hot side to not "float" the baits and to get a good bond.

Thank you!  I was going to try that way first, but didn't know if people had another way of doing it.  I had thought about using an Exacto knife, but that would scratch up the mold.  Thanks again!
