powder paint question
« on: 12/11/12 08:50 UTC »
For those of you lure makers that use powder paint can you use flake and highlites made for soft plastics? I assumed they could take the temps but was unsure if the could withstand the bakeing process. Also where is the best place to buy powder paints? I would like to buy more than just 1 or 2 oz at a time and I need to get multiple colors. Thank you guys for any help.

I have tried a few different things but I will let someone with more experience give you the correct advice.

As for powder paint,

I know you can use the flake.  Powder not sure. I have add pearl powder to d2 if I use it to coat the jig head.  Used blue pearl in d2 on a black jig. Looks very good.

I do have some pro tech white pearl.  It does have pearl in it. Not sure what kind of pearl powder they use. And if there are many different pearls?  I have no idea.
But you have me thinking know.

Thanks guys I know the pearlescents will bake fine cause I made some black spinnerbait heads for my uncle last month and lightly brushed gold pearlescent powder on and baked it and it turned out pretty good. I just got my first fluid bed and I wanted to check and make sure the flake was ok to add to the powder before I ruined it lol. Thanks again ill check out that tj's.
