Wittle Wutz-It in Bluegill
« on: 12/17/12 10:58 UTC »
I was out working in the factory last night.  I decided since the swim shads looked nice in the bluegill color, I would try out the color pattern in the Wittle Wutz-It.  The Wittle Wutz-Its were easier to make in this color pattern than the Swim Shads.

I am going back and forth about putting eyes on these or not.  For some reason, I really do not like the way they look with the eyes, but most people do.  I have to go with what people want though.  I planned on clear dipping the heads anyway because that is where the three colors come together.  I think the heads would fall apart when rigging if I didn’t clear dip them.  What is a few extra minutes to put eyes on them, right?

Thanks for looking!

Chuck

Nice pours -  very consistent and clean.  On several forums I frequent there are discussions on "eyes vs no eyes".  This is primarily on crappie jig heads; but there may be some relevance here.  The people who favor eyes say the flash as the bait moves and the spot contrast seems to enhance the baits attraction.

Thank you!  I have heard before either on here or somewhere else that a lure is more likely to sell if it has eyes than if it doesn't have eyes.  I keep thinking about how well Zoom Super Flukes work and they do not have eyes.  I am sure, I will wind up putting eyes on them.  Thanks for your input!

Awesome baits.  I think the eyes are more for the fishermen than fish - however - I put eyes on all my own baits.  I guess it's just a confidence thing.

Thanks Jason!  I have an order of 4000 eyes coming to me today.  I think I will go ahead and put them on.  Maybe I will make my 8 year old daughter put them on for me.   :P  Adding eyes will affect the quantity/pack.  We charge a flat fee for all of our packs of lures, but change the quantity depending on the lure and how much work goes into them.

Young ones can definitely put eyes on faster (and normally straighter) than I can.   ;D

Success! I told my daughter I had a job for her and she was thrilled. She did a great job putting the eyes on them.  ;D

My wife is my official eye-stick-er-on-er.  She is not only faster than I could ever hope to be, but straighter, and she feels like she's really helping me (which is true)- all things I chalk up in the win column, indeed!

My opinion- Slap some eyes on those Wutz-Its!  I think they will look great.  A 3D yellow or even red eye would really set it off!  Nice baits.

I've just hired my granddaughters to stick on my eyes.  This should be interesting.
Until next time.
