« on: 12/20/12 17:29 UTC »
i have seen a few molds that dont have to be clamped...they have a couple of line up pins and some screw type fastners that hold the mold together... i have thought that they would be easy to add to a ccm mold. what is yalls thought...

All around I prefer the CCM method; hinged and clamped.   The only time where a bolt and nut mold is preferred is if I am only injecting a single mold.  The second case does not happen very often.  I typically have at least three molds clamped together but seldom clamp more than four.  If I am injecting five ( or more ) I will break them into groups of three and two, three and three, etc.

I have taken all the screw locks out of mine and just clamp them together.  Its faster when shooting multiple molds, of the same size.

Yeah, the Irwin quick clamps are alot faster than my screw knob molds. I prefer clamps.

I prefer clamps as well. I use the Irwin style clamps when shooting multiple molds. If I'm shooting a single mold that shoots easily I just use a couple hinged clamps. They're faster yet.

We have a few molds that have screws with wing nuts on them.  If I am doing just that mold, I will use the wing nuts and screws if it is for a few lures.  However, I am mass producing now and I have taken them out and I am using clamps.  It is quicker and much easier using the clamps.  Good luck.
