fry daddy for plastic????

What do y'all think about using a fry daddy type of frier to heat plastic? You can set them to 350 and they will keep it at a constant temp.the things you think of at Walmart lol

I think the general consensus is that they are too hot....and they don't have a temperature control.

I think there were some posts over on "the mean" plastics forum on building a rheostat type control...

LOL. The "mean" forum. You hit that nail on the head Andy. What a shame. That used to be a great place to learn and hang out. It's gone down hill BAD in the last few years.
The non-stick presto pot is a better alternative in my opinion. I'd reccommend avoiding anything made of thin lightweight material. It wont transfer heat evenly. You end up getting hotspots near the heating element that will scorch your plastic.-------Tim.

Andy is right, the fry daddy will keep it too hot. I THINK Triton bought a presto and stirs it with a spatula. You may ask him, if not him someone will chime in.

I love my presto.  I stir mine witha silicone spat just to et the glitter or what ever I have added to mix well before I suck up some plastic into the injector.  I keep the setting at around 335 to 340 just incase it decides it wants to get way hot for some reason.  Seems they have a mind of there own sometimes.    Go with a presto not a fry daddy.

I tried a fry daddy it gets to hot and it scorthes the plastic.  I recently bought a vintage sunbeam electric pot its from the 1950's it looks like it was never used.  It is about twice as heavy as todays presto pot and it holds the heat great.

The model I mentioned above is called the "kitchen kettle multi cooker/steamer".
