Can you guys come up with something similiar to the Owner Sled Head (without the coil) or Charlie Brewer Spider Pro head.  I use these quite a bit flipping finnese baits. At almost a dollar each I'd like to make my own.

We have been asked this many times and we would love to do so.  The problem usually centers around patent issues and finding a source for the proper hook.  Many times these hooks aren't offered for sale to others than a specific bait manufacturer and if they are offered to others you have to buy a train load for them to make a "special run"... sometimes it's hard to get what you want when it comes to hooks.

I like the CB Slider Heads also, Sean Sir.  I've been eye-balling them pretty heavy lately.  I'm capable of making quite a few jigheads, but finishing them takes alot of time, and cool, humid weather over the last few months has kept me from doing several things with lead and paint.  I recently bought some 1/8 oz. "Tail Light" jigheads from Crappie Pro to go with these 2" Gliders...that combo makes a seriously premium bait.

Thinking about a similar 'Head to the Slider...how about a "standard" Worm Hook and a size "0" stainless wire eye.  Worm Hook Eye "connected" to one end of the Stainless Wire Eye, with the Lead Head cast around the joint/junction of the hook and eye, locking them together?  This may seem like a weak link within the lead part, but there would have to be some serious pressure applied to open the wire eye inside the lead head for the connection to be compromised.

That seems like a pretty good idea BKJ.  Based on my experience there is no practical way to pull a wire eye out of a jig or sinker once it is cast there.  It might be a little tougher to work with than most Do-It yourselfers care for though...  The main stream usually wants it a little easier than what you or I would mess around with.  Most all Do-It Molds are aimed at the average, mainstream Joe.  Mold modification, or machining a blank might be the way for the "hard core" tackle maker to get it done.

Roger on'nat, Jerry Sir.  I've been considering that 570/575 Collar-less Erie mold for awhile.  I think it can be modified to do several things that have been composting on my brain...

I hear you on that one... there is a TON of cool stuff you could do with that Erie head design.  It is a style that has stood the test of time and will do what it was made to do in most any application.  I've heard of a number of mods to that head design.

What kinda "composting" you got going on?

A little Rabbit drop, a little Chicken drop, salad/veggie scraps, used coffee grinds, leftover oatmeal, lawn clippings...:D

I made some Heads from the Erie mold I have (pics are in the Gallery) of what I call a "Scallop".  There would be alot of parts per Head if done "my way" but it would be secure for most fishing...again, using the small stainless eyes, 1 on each end of the Head, worm hook attached to the rear eye...kind of a spin-off of the Biffle Hardhead but geared towards minnow-style baits in Saltwater.

I think that same mold would be a contender in the Head mentioned above, also.

Of course, my favorite Inland Saltwater jighead.  ...there "could" be more...
