Thanks for the kudos Justin!.

Here's an example of how fast things change when working with colors like the ones in this particular bait.

mine:

factory:

[/quote]

The blue and the yellow batches I mixed to do the bait shown in the other post got less than 1/4 drop of black to each. The blue toned down real nice but the yellow went almost an olive in a blink. Of course this pic is a toughie to compare with the others because of the sun on it....different lighting scenarios change how things really look....but the very top bait in this photo is the most accurate depiction of the colors. The yellow is more yellow than even this pic shows but its still sort of an olive color.

I'll move the original pic of the factory bait down here next to this color so yu can see the change.

If you get a look at an actual bait, the top color is far more brown and copper looking... Not really yellow at all.

I make this color a lot and use MFs copperhead and watermelon brown. On a 4cup batch I use 10cc of copperhead and 20 drops watermelon brown. Light hitch I cut the color in half. Makes a nice copper/gold back. Not cc colors but thought I would post. Frank

You guys are awesome!  I actually bought one of these baits this weekend to get a really good look at it.  I'll try to take a picture of it tonight and see if that helps any.

Ctom, you rock buddy!  That looks pretty close.  The original doesn't seem to have much copper in it, but I know that I have seen other light hitch colors like Rago baits, that lean more towards copper.

Thanks guys!

I hadn't ever heard of "light hitch" until I saw the post. No matter, when I see a challenge I usually end up in it feet first up to the gnarlies. This color was no exception.

Something we all need to consider is that among all the major tackle makers that play in the realm of plastics this "light hitch color" can be a color for maybe 30 to 50% of all of them. The name may have slipped past any copyrights, but the individual color recipes probably have some coverage so the companies don't copy one another. Copper might be present in one and that yellowish whatever may be common to another.

Playing with this one was fun. My first run at it resulted in a sale so whats bad about that? lol What makes this site absolutely the best of the best is the "can do" spirit that so many here have and a super willingness to help others out. Man I love it.

Ya I could post ten other bait from the same company and it would not be the same in 50% of there own. This color has produced many many bags of fish over 30lbs in the past three weeks for  my customers. Frank

Well, I was making some clown baits for a smallie buddy and looked at the yellow and smiled... Had to give that top yellow color a run. Just used my scraps from the clown baits and some blue scraps I had laying on the counter... From the pics, the yellow is pretty much dead on. My quick picture is darkening the color just a tad......

Clown

Light Hitch???

Of course, if I was matching this for real, I would use the clear plastic on the bottom and change the blue a bit. Good enough with scraps though... LOL...

Oh yeah.... DUH!!! Colors used for top are: 4oz  7 drops of green chartreuse (M-F or CCM), 1 drop of smoke copper pearl (M-F), 1 drop of white (LC)...

Its good to know that scraps laying around on the shooting bench are noticed by more than just me. My best work comes from the scrap heap at times. lol Just never know.

Good work there. I like the clown. That's a color I never use. Our water color up this way must filter the colors but I can't seem to tease a hit using it.

You guys are great.  Thanks Frank, now you know why I want to match that color.  Hoping to get a 30 lb. bag myself!   :D  Thanks for the recipe, your light hitch looks great.

Ghost, you always find a way, via scraps or not!  Thanks for the recipe, that one looks great also.

Either way, I'm going to have to order some copper.
