First Bass Jigs
« on: 03/08/13 13:27 UTC »
Before fellow member Wilks19, his father in law and I started making plastics, we had bought lead molds to make split shot, drop shot weights and round jig heads.  I was powder painting the round heads and tying hair jigs.  Wilks19 was making spinnerbaits and buzzbaits using the pre-formed wires, making his own skirts, airbrushing the heads and also adding the blades, swivels and beads.  It was something for us to do to pass the time during winter.  Once we started making plastics, we put all of that on the back burner.  We had picked up a couple of lead molds along the way, but have not done much with them.  I bought the ultra minnow on impulse because it looked so awesome.  I also bought a weedless football jig mold because Bass Pro had them on sale for a great price.  Fast forward to today.  Member DobynsTriton recently started pouring lead and posting up pics on here and Face Book.  His jig heads look awesome.  He inspired me to break out our lead pouring equipment again.  I called up Wilks19 and asked him to make me some skirts.  Here are the results of our efforts:

Thanks guys!  Sorry Fsh4fun!  I didn't mean to put you in the poor house.   ;D  The top color is made by Pro-tec and is watermelon red flake.  Thanks again!

Nice looking stuff right there... throw some of your homemade plastic trailers on there and you've got something you likely couldn't buy in a store if you wanted to,  AND you'll proll catch more fish with them because you know that you can make more and will likely toss them in those places where the fish live.

It's a win, win...  good looking stuff.

Thanks guys! I will be sure to let you know if I catch fish with them. I showed them to a buddy of mine and he wants me to make him some. Hmmmm, new product to add to our website? Stay tuned.
