I just finished casting up 600 assorted head sizes, all with keeper wires. All were cast on Matzuo Sickles. The mold shot real well.
I was wondering about setting the keeper wires....how big a mess that was going to be, but in the end it was no biggie at all. I'm thinking that placing the wires maybe added 20 minutes to the casting time so its not a real issue at all.
I did machine the eyes out of the cavities so I had a smooth head instead of heads with eye in-dents. Ain't perfect but we are dealing with fih so..............lol
I've used heads like these for a couple seasons and lastyear a buddie bought the mold and began making them and I was given a mess to play with and they are a great head. I think the best feature is having a couple of "in-between" , 3/16 and 5/16. There are situations where needing just a little more or just a hair less make having these off weight heads really handy. Do they matter? Absolutely.
If anyone is looking for a great all-purpose or walleye specific head, this is it.
