Super Glo Powders

Jerry, what type of light source should I use when wanting to take pictures in the dark of the lures with the glow powder? Black Light,  etc?
 When I place my worms up to a regular light then turn the light off, the lure glows pretty good, but my camera don't see it and the entire picture is black

I have had good luck shooting pictures both ways, with regular light as well as black light. I did find out that some colors seem to be brighter with one light source and others with another light source. If you have a mid to high end digital camera, you can also adjust settings, one of them being shutter speed or exposure time

Try turning off the flash and mount the camera on a tripod for stability. Set up everything in the light and focus so that everything is ready to go, then charge the plastics in the light, slide them back under the camera, turn out the lights and push the shutter release very softly and hold.

Mr. Ryan took those pics and the pics at the web site.  We might get him to chime in pertaining to settings, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with shutter speed.  If you charge those baits in the sunshine you will notice a big difference as well.

My only 2 cents that I can chime in with is if you are using a DLSR set your camera to manual focus. that way when you turn the light out the auto focus doesnt try and focus. Also if you can extend your shutter time I would do that also.. Also agree with Tom that I would use a tripod, and a shutter release..

Not regarding pictures, but I shot up my sample colors in an ice bait using the Do-It glow pigments this morning/ I shot the glow as mixed into clear without any colorant and then mixed in the corresponding colors and re-shot them. When I drove to the bait shop they were on the van seat in the sun with the window down so they got one heck of a charge. The shop had some customers at the counter when I laid the package down. Lets just say I'm thinking that the shop may have some good customer base this winter. Everyone was properly impressed. In plain plastic the colors are nice. With the colorant.....unreal.

That's cool Tom... in a word this stuff is "effective" and there's nothing like some good 'ol sunshine to make it pop.  Those who see it at work are most times flabbergasted to some degree.  There just aren't that many glow plastics out there on the market right now, and it catches some people off guard a little I suppose.  I would imagine the ice fishermen, of anyone, would most sincerely appreciate it.

Glow ice baits have been hot for several years but the glow in color stuff in plastic is new frontier almost. Very few commercial entities ventured into it. The glow in color jigs got off to a decent start about 8 years ago, but even then there were some issues with the pigments and application process. Now China pretty well has that part figured out. The plastics though? There are some small companies that have latched onto this concept and have done well. Personally I have been doing super well with a small, lithe, ice plastic [2 plastics actually] using the glow in color pigments. The Do-It pigments take the cake though. Mixed with plastic of the same color the glow plastics I mentioned here have a whole new dimension. The guys in that shop this morning had mouths simply hanging open. If I'd have had 500 baits I could have sold them all in one stop....that's no bull. I handed out some cards and already I have had one of the guys e-mail me with questions.

That's one of the beauties of this little hobby is that we can get in the market before the big companies can. Custom Jigs and Spins from your neck of the woods has some glow in color plastics but those are of Chinese manufacture and I know for a fact that for the glow capabilities that we hobby shooters have at our hands, the Chinese cannot compete nor can they offer the quality of the glow products we can make.

My other source for glow pigments is another great place that offers the hobbyist some phenomenal pigments but honestly the Do-It pigments sit at the top of the pile in my book. I just wish you had a deep, rich, purple like the other place has.

mix red and blue?

Won't work Brent. These are dry pigments and will not blend like wet colorants.

Could you
1)use blue glow in a red bait?
2)use red glow in a blue bait?
3)use red glow in a very light purple bait?

you know the whole colored filter in front of a flashlight thing?

To some extent you might get a purple out of it. I'm not worried Brent as I have some of the purple glow pigment from another manufacturer that works great on its own in clear plastic, but the color gets muted if its added to a purple plastic. And by muted I mean it just isn't as bright as it is in clear.
