There are LOTS of posts saying that they like the carrot for wacky...and many us like it better than the Senko because of the action.
Plus...it can make a pretty darn good jerk bait too! And Carolina rig, and drop shot. Of course Texas rigged.
Make it with 2 tablespoons of High Density and it will fall at the same rate as a Senko (see Bill's post).....and it will last for a dozen or more fish (vs 1 or 2 at best for the Senko!). The HD really makes the baits more durable.
The size ...and thickness.. depends on the size of fish you catch most often. I prefer the 4" for smallmouth...and it really makes a nice jerk bait and it's my favorite size for drop shot. I personally like the "skinny" version best for any length...but it's probably just a matter of personal preference.
It's got to be the easiest mold to shoot of all the CCM baits...and to learn how to use a twin injector for laminates...or using the laminate plate (which I like better).
Remember...you can always make a 6" shorter...but you can't make a shorter one longer! But if you are fussy like me....I always want my baits to have the finished head... I own a lot of different size carrots.
I use the 6" on the back of my swim jigs and throw them up on the slop. The long tail helps keep it from falling through the weeds. I like the swim jig on top of the weeds better than the Spro Frogs. A LOT higher percentage hook up. I also like using the Baby Berry on my jigs for on the weeds.
When I hit the edge of the weeds I let it sit there for a minute...then drop if off the edge of the weeds.
You just can't go wrong with the 6" Carrot!
There...dare taken!
