Fluke Type Mold
« on: 06/04/13 15:17 UTC »
I would like to start injecting some Jerkbaits but I've been unable to find a mold that resembles the Fluke.

Anyone have any links to a fluke type mold?

I like the Do-It Wutz-It mold a lot.  I used to fish a lot of Flukes, but now only use those.

I was considering the Wutz-It but was unsure about the straight tail vs the Forked Tail that you have on the Flukes. A Forked Tail on a Wutz-It would have me SOLD!  hehe

Forked tail or not, they both perform the same when you jerk your rod tip.  That erratic action is awesome!  I was pretty hesitant myself.  I bought the mold off of someone and I am glad I did.  I say pull the trigger.  You will not be disappointed.

I find the action of the Wutz-It's to be very good; at least to me.  The tail design gives it a certain action.  I would suggest before you decide on a fluke mold, to order a sample pack and compare the action to other fluke style molds via a "swimming pool" type test.   In the past week I have been to the pool twice to test different bait characteristics against each other.  Across the shallow end ( for a good view ), down the slope ( or drop ) and more vertically in the deep end.  Low wind conditions really help to get a good look.  Found out some interesting stuff.  This does not automatically translate to a "fish magnet"; but will confirm if the baits action is what you are after.

I am also in the Wuttz-it camp. Same. Action as a fluke in my opinion. What always bothered me about most of the fluke baits was the unnatural horizontal tail...but it never seemed to bother the bass much!

I probably fish carrot baits (especially the 4") as jerk baits more than anything else. A carrot fished on a Do-it worm nose jig is really good for me.

RTL Bears makes a fluke or at least used to.  I like the Wuz-it better though.  More action.

A forked tail stabilizes the bait like an airplane tail.

The Wutzit has more erratic action without it.

The bears flukes (if still available) you can not do laminates.

My pb 8+ was on a watzit

I've had both Bears and the wutz-it. The wutz-it hands down is a better bait.  Is also better than a fluke imho.I don't have a pic to back it up but I've already caught one over 5 on a wutzit  this year. This bait has become the go to bait for me. Don't get me wrong, Bears twitchy is an excellent bait. Just not  as good as the Wutzit.

I have a fluke mold and a wutzit mold. Lakeside molds has a fluke. With lam plates. Both are very good molds. Both pour great. Never had a problem either one.

Crabbybass and another buddy last year were using the Flukes and killing them up here in IL.  I went out and bought a few packs and couldn't get a bite.  I tried and tried with no luck at all.  I stopped fishing them and when we got the Do-It Wutz it last fall, I started using them.  I have had great success with them and for the last 4-6 weeks have been catching 95% of my fish on them. I would recommend the laminate plate if you decide to get it.  The action on them is absolutely sick!!!!!!!  I love the 5" we have and would highly recommend it.  The mold shots very easy and without any issues.  Good luck on your decision.

Thank you Wilks19. I pulled the trigger on the 5" Wutz and the Lam plate. I just checked the status and it looks like the package will arrive tomorrow since it processed at 2:30am in Macon which is about 60 miles from here. Doubt it'll make it to me today. I'm very excited about this bait.

My first injects will be a White Pearls and some Baby Bass

Excellent first choice of a bait color.  You will enjoy the mold. The Wutz-Its inject in a very behaved manor for me.  Don't forget your bream colored baits, and shiners, and shads, and ....
