Excellent buzz frog bait.  Well designed fish catcher.

The bass (and a nice Dogfish) sure did like 'em last night! Fishing "the slop" top water.

I also use them (especially the smallest version) on a jig head and fish them along the bottom or on the retrieve. Those feet make a lot of noise!

I'm hoping the bass around here will eat it up. There not much on topwater frogs, at least not the ones Ive tried before. But I really liked the action of this bait so I figured I would give it a try. Do they float without adding the foam in?

CCM plastic floats the bait...but depending on the hook you use it will sink slightly. You won't have any issues keeping it up on the surface.

At rest it will sink slowly with a hook.  But; as Andrew says, it will come to the surface quickly on a retrieve.  Many times a slowly sinking bait gets hit better in the "slop".  Let it drop into the holes a little on barely slack line.

I've used other topwater lures as well, none of the come close.  I have the 4" Bigfoot toad and love it.  The croakers are awesome as well.

The frog has wicked action and is sweet rippin' across the water.  I have heard of folks using it as a trailer on their jigs, etc.  I have not tried that yet, but plan to add that method to the arsenal.

Yea after I made a few, I took it to the water and had a few fish go after it but we're all short strikes. Couldn't hook any, I'm thinking maybe a small trailer hook or would that affect the action of it?

If by "short strike" you mean they miss it...slow down....way down.

If  by "short strike" you mean they hit it..but you didn't hook them...after they hit it you need to give them a tiny bit of slack and say "a bass just ate my frog"...then set the hook!

And sometimes they really aren't eating the frog...they are in more of a neutral feeding mood....and when that keeps happening I normally go to a flippin' type bait and fish the holes in the slop. I like to use the lightest jig I can...with a nice broad bait like Baby Berry or the Flippin' Hog to help hold the bait on top of the slop...and then pull it slowly over the slop and sink slowly into the holes. That slow fall really helps on neutral or negative fish.

I fish it just fast enough to keep it on the surface.

Pike were hitting short on the frogs yesterday.  Even when they hit, drop the frog into the water column and they'd hit again and STILL strike short.  This is a regular occurrence with pike IME, regardless what kind of lure you're using.  Bass on the other hand usually either inhale it first try or miss completely.  And Andy is correct, give a second before setting the hook.

There not getting ahold of it long enough to set the hook. I'm gonna try and add a trailer hook just to see what happens. If there just short striking the legs the trailer hook might get them.

I gave some to a buddy and he rigged a trailer hook, with success. Landed the fish!
