CC soft plastisol
« on: 06/25/13 17:02 UTC »
I had a weird issue last week when I made some jerkbaits.  I purchased the 2.5gal of the soft formula because that is what I used when I bought only a gallon.  I like the soft formula, customers like it also and they seem to accept the loss of a few more baits for more action.

Any way here it is, last week made some jerkbaits with the same recipe that I always use and they came out super super soft!  The only new ingredient is the HD sink additive.  1TBS/cup.  Never had an issue with salt being added and softening baits like these turned out.  They almost  feel like there is a giant air bubble in them (cut three open to disprove that theory).   I never shook up the plastic just followed the roll around method when I left it sit for a period of time.

Any ideas?

Sincerely,
Mike K.

Sure sounds like a separation problem to me, shake the heck out of it give a few minutes and run another batch that will disprove that theory.

What has likely happened is separation.  Your baits came out extra soft, probably because You pulled out more Softener than usual...that batch had a higher percentage of Softener (plasticizer) than the usual Soft formula.

Doesn't the HD additive also soften the plastic?
