Does anyone else think it would be helpful

So I was going through my molds and I have odds and ends some Bears, some BassTackle, some CCM/Do It, and Some Jacobs. Looking at them I thought it would be really helpful if they were engraved with who made them and what they are. Especially the laminate plates. Do you label your molds and plates? what has stayed on for you?

I separate my molds to type--small worms, big worms, crawfish, sinkos, small swimbaits, large swimbaits, etc. Each mold goes in a zip loc bag with all the parts that go to it-- laminate plate, splines, tail molds etc. then into a big plastic storage box with the bait type on it. Best way I've figured out. When I pour I pour one type. I will go through that box and pick out the molds I need and then pour. The only problem I have is I like to pour six to ten colors of each mold. This means I need a plano box for each mold. I've been trying to explain to my wife that I need a second boat to pull my tackle when I go fishing!! :P :P

Brent, most of my molds are engraved exactly the way you mentioned.  I find it very helpful at times. Electric engraving tool.

Gary...I like the idea of a second boat.  Maybe call it something like The Bait Boat.  Size would be important, so I'm thinking something between the Queen Mary and the Titantic.
Until next time.

I agree Denny but the titanic held water better than baits  :o I leave all my molds all over the shop half here half there, that way I can heat the plastic 4 or 5 time before I find all the parts

I write on mine with a sharpie. Not just the name and size but top and bottom. Makes it easier when using my twin injector.

do you do anything to keep it from wiping off? I know Jason use to write on the side of the mold, but it seems to wipe off easily

I found a particular sharpie that has the word industrial on it. I found them at office max.  I can write on a vinyl label and in about 10 seconds, touch it and it doesn't smear. I hadn't tried it on the molds yet.

Brent, I am one of those who are anal retentive about my molds. I wanted mine labeled as well. After trying many different things I ended up taking them down to the trophy shop and had them engrave them for me. They look great and they only const me 5 to 7 bucks for a mold! Just an idea.
