Test drive
« on: 08/06/13 09:02 UTC »
I'm taking this bait's mold for a test drive over the next couple days. Baits of this style are great for jigging lakers and this one will pull double duty on walleyes too come later this fall when the water temps begin to sink.

The caliper jaws have things sort of scrunched together, The actual length of the plastic is 3" and that is the Snootie head in 3/8 ounce that's modified to use the wire keeper. As soon as I saw this pair teamed up I knew a winner was made.

I've got this series of colors done now for both walleye and lakers. The lakers will definitely see the 2 white bodied baits as well as the chartreuse orange. All will be in attendeance when I hit the breakwater next month.

Helps like heck to add the pic, eh? Dork mode today.

Using a soft plastic the thump is nuts. It tightens up when a firm plastic is used. Since the plastic likes to be neutrally bouyant, I started testing this bait using a 1/4 ounce head, but 3/8 does better by it. I haven't hung this one vertically so I can't go there. I plan to soak this extensively in Lake Superior next month and will let ya'll know how cold water affects things. I'm assuming not much.
