Playing with Super Glow Powders
« on: 08/18/13 16:50 UTC »
Tommy Skarlis stopped by my house yesterday to hang out and clean up a few work related things before he had to leave the State for a few days.  Once we had that accomplished he eagerly asked me if we could make a few baits.  ( ie: begged) ... so that's what we proceeded to do and had more than a good time doing it too.

Tommy's pretty excited about the Super Glow Powders and how they might play into his fishing, so we messed around with those for a while.  He's on the road now but asked me if I would share a couple of his bait photos from the day.

Lights ON...

Lights OFF...

And I thought this was something pretty cool that he put together... a little side by side of the two.

Those new glow powders are pretty neat. I'm thinking I'm going to have to buy some of those. Those two color glow baits look pretty sweet.

1/8 teaspoon per 4=6 ounces? Something else for when the sun goes down or real cloudy days. Keep us informed on the fishing results.

Yes that is correct... we were mixing them with about 1/4 tsp. to 10 oz...  I've found that 1/8 tsp. to 4-6 oz. gets the job done.  A little less will do the trick too but that's just how I've been using it.  I'll let Tommy speak to how it fishes.  He's pretty excited about it and that usually means it holds more promise than not.

You can mix these powders with any color you would like.  The samples were shot with a like fluorescent X2 colorant but when you turn the lights off... they will glow their own color.

The other night I was turning off the lights in the shop and turned around to be sure I hadn't forgot anything and take a look at what I saw..  I couldn't resist a quick pic.

Ain't it though...  I had a pretty good idea what this stuff had going for it but when I saw THAT just before bed time, I really couldn't believe my eyes.  I'm pretty certain that the Dog thought I was crazy as I had just told her we were going to bed and now I'm laughing out loud and getting equipment out again...

Yes. Keep in mind that the more transparent you make the plastic the better the glow capabilities. It will work in opaque plastic but only the pigment at the surface will glow.
