Magnum Croaker
« on: 11/19/10 18:23 UTC »
Hello Everyone,
New to this forum and just wanted to say hello, I also wanted to see what other opinions are on this new idea I bounced off of Jason. I was asking him about taking the Croaker and making it 5.5-6", I fish a lake here in PA where I've never caught a fish on a frog smaller than 5", I'm not really sure what it is about big frogs in this lake but it just seems to be what works. Jason had talked some sense into me and told me to order some samples first to check out the bait, I'm just wondering if I'm onto something here or if anyone else thought about taking the Croaker and making it magnum size! I guess this sample bag will help make up my mind, any and all thoughts are appreciated here, and I'm glad to be here at the forum, and big up's to Jason he really has something going here in this company.

Welcome Chris! I do like a big frog at times but I'll be honest, the smaller frogs seem to get as big of fish and even more numbers from what I have seen.

I know Jason will hook you up with one though. After getting the 4" you might be happy though. It is a mouthful for any fish....

Yeah, that's what Jason said (I guess great minds think alike haha!) and looking at the frog again on the website it does look like it has a pretty thick body, I guess I'll see where my minds goes after the sample bag comes. A 5-6" frog churns up a good bit of water though!

Check out the pictures in the bait contest. You can see some other angles of the frog as well.

So Jason, I've been thinking about this whole magnum croaker thing, and was curious how thick the body of the croaker would be if it was stretched to 5.5"?

On the 4.5" the thickest part of the Frog is .8" and .5" at the hook.  If we just scaled it to 5.5" in length you would be looking t 1" and .6".  I sent you a PM as well.  Give me a call and we can talk more about this after you look at the samples.

Thanks,

Jason

Just received my sample bag Jason, that was some pretty quick shipping. Everything in there looks great, I think you have a repeat customer here. I'm going to go with what you said and just pour the 4" frog to get used to injection. Call me stubborn, but if everything goes okay with injection on this 4" frog, I'll be back to talk to you about making a 5 or 5.5". I might be a little hard headed, but I think this frog could do great at an even bigger scale. Once again thanks for all the advice and the quick shipping, and I'll be ordering again soon!

Sounds great.  I'm a big bait guy also so I understand.   ;D
