About Shore Hardness ???
« on: 09/14/13 16:43 UTC »
Hello here .

My first post .
I make my lures for several years now ( soft lure and jig head )
I'm used to pour my soft lure with Lurecraft plastic  and now Calhouns plastics ( i guess it is , but my seller don't advertise about his supplier ...)

Since i read you ,i understand that  CCM plastic seems to be the best of the best  for baits pouring !!!
And I can not wait to try it  8)
Question about Shore hardness : If I'm not mistaken, with common plastic , soft platic is around 22 shore ,  regular is 35 shore and hard is about 45...

Is it the same with CCM plastic , and especially with the hard ? ( i ask because of international shipping policies , i mean for my first order , i would not purchase  the 3 plastic , only one hardness ( standart or hard ? ) .

Thank you .

I only use Medium and on rare occasion use some softener. The Do-it Molds (formally Caney Creek) were all designed to be molded in medium.

I don't know if my answer pertains to your question but....
I normally use regular formula plastic from CCM, some how I messed up and ordered the Soft Formula this time around. I probably could have whined to Jerry and maybe traded with him, but I decided to keep the soft plastic. Im gonna see whats the difference on the action of my baits as soon as I can get back out to the lake. Im kinda thinking that the soft formula will swim better, but will it hold up to the beating that it will get from the fish?  Only testing will tell.
I will post my results as soon as I can

Hello .

Sometimes the randomly causes accidental discoveries !

Me too, after a delivery error, i was annoyed. Then i poured my lure with softer plastic... And i liked it ( i mean , fish liked it a lot ! )  ;D

By the way, i caught my biggest, with a lure poured with pure hardener  , instead of standart plastic .

That's why , now , i need plastic from 20 Shore to 40 Shore .

! --> I think i have to open a new topic about the dosage of softener ...
