Newbie Question
« on: 09/30/13 22:09 UTC »
Gentlemen,

Newbie here and am days away from injecting my first plastic bass worms. I read not long ago that a guy on this forum was having problems with bubbles in his plastic from humidity. I live in Southeast Texas and we have a lot of that here. I have a air conditioned shop but its still has some humidity in the air. Am wondering how many other forum members are from the deep south in humidity zones and if they have any problems with it?

Or am I over thinking this ?

Thanks CA

Where you from. Im originally am from the golden triangle. Moved up North a few years back, Hated it ever since. The town is a very nice place to live, but it aint the south.

As for your question. Like everything else you make at home, the humidity has a lot to play into this hobby. Just make sure you keep your plastic around the 350 deg mark( Mainly on new plastic). you may have to tinker with the temp from time to time, but you should be ok. If you get bubbles it may not be the temp. try slowing down on the injecting. or even pre-heating your mold is always a good tip.

Welcome to the forum/Group and hope to see your baits soon.
Don't forget to ASK ASK ASK. These guys in here are the tops when it comes to helping out other hobbyist.

Tell everyone back home I said Hi

I'm in SW Louisiana and pour in my garage. I have never had a big problem with bubbles, but I use MF plastic.

Here in Mississippi we're the kings of humidity. I've had issues with bubbles caused by it a couple times and they were different brands of plastic. Found that if I would pre-heat my purex glass prior to adding raw plastic most issues went away. About a 15 second blast in the microwave solved this.

X2, forgot about that. I been doing plastic for 2 years now and forget or take certain things for granted.

I know Jamestown ND very well... I have fished the reservoir I think it was called the Jamestown Reservoir... And I am fortunate to hunt whitetails with some friends of mine that live in Binford ND... In fact I'm headed that way in November for a hunt..

oh wow, small world. yeah. Im about 10 minutes from the Reservoir, I like to fish there and the Pipestem dam. Sometimes I like to even go up to Spiritwood lake. Im hoping to get to go and try out the Minnesota lakes before winter hit.
