It's a discontinued Do-It Mold model that has been replaced by the Vibrating Lure molds... to the best of my knowledge there is not much difference between the two other than the name/model number.  I can likely get you some more information on that when I get back to the Do-It World Headquarters tomorrow and inquire with my man Lloyd.  He's our resident historian as he's been making molds there since Christ wore knickers, and he remembers all those little things.  Ya gotta love having guys like that around...

Thanks Jerry.  I have a whole pile of molds. That I'm not sure what some are.

Had to put my grandpa in the nursing home. And we were going through some of his stuff.
Some of the molds I have never seen before.  I may get you a list in the next week or so. So someone can tell me what I have.

If I only had a nickel for every time that I've heard a similar story, I may not have to go to work next week.  Do-It Molds span generations on more occasions than most would think.  I would like to know who might end up with my collection, but I'm not in a big hurry to find out mind you.  If you have any other questions just let me know and I'll get you as much info. as I can.  If I don't know I'll bet I can find out.

Give your Granddad some love while you still can and be proud that he's handed down to you some pretty special things... and I ain't necessarily talking about the molds.

Thanks. Jerry.

I just wish I has learned more about fly tying. Before he lost most of his memory.  He still remembers old stories. So I'm hoping I can take a vise to the nursing home and learn something.

I have been all over the country and Canada. Fishing with him.   Last five years we just went to his 15 acre pit and fished.  Had some great catching stories there too.   Like. 85 large mouths in 3 hours. With a 7lb in that.

Thanks Jerry.

I don't know if your grandpa has Alzheimer's or not.  I hope not.  My mom had it for 14 years and my father-in-law for 7 years before they died.  One memory that sticks in my mind is a gift Dad received one Christmas.  He used to own a radiator repair shop and someone gave him a coffee can full of different sized nuts and bolts.  He would sit in his recliner for hours trying to match a nut with a bolt.  It made him happy.

I wonder what your grandpa would do with a tackle box...without the sharp stuff.
Until next time.

Zonar mold is do-it's version of the Silver Buddy  - http://www.silverbuddy.com/ - which is a fantastic little blade bait for Smallies and anything that swims really. I prefer the Zonar version to the newer 'vibrating lure' - a little tip? put a small bend in the back of the blade to make it even more erratic.

Enjoy your time with your grandpa - make every moment worth it - and hand it down to your kids as well.

Do these molds accept the current Do-It blade insert?
I see these come up occasionally on EBAY and was curious if they would work? Cutting them from scratch could be a pain.
BTW that is cool that you have your grandpas molds. Would be cool to catch something on a jig made from them.

Just double checked my mold - says to use the "ZB-M" and "ZB-S" blanks - which is the same as the ones do-it currently sells -

and comparing what I have to the pictures - yep - same thing.

I tried for years to get the Zonar (Silver Buddy) and the Erie Dearie copy mold.  Finally got the Zonar Mold but man when the Erie Dearie mold comes up it commands big bucks!!!!!!!!!

One of my last pouring sessions In June, these were what I poured Including the Zonar (Silver Buddy)

and this was the entire batch
