Been missing... passing it forward
« on: 10/14/13 09:53 UTC »
Sorry guys I have not been on the board much as of lately, Some of you may know that I started a charity 7 years ago, named after my mother Andrea Lynn. The charity helps local families in their battle against cancer. We have help by, paying medical bills, utility assistance, vital home and vehicle repair, as well as helping and hosting fundraisers. This weekend we had one of our fundraisers that allows us to do these things.
We had out Pumpkin Stampede 5k run/walk this weekend with 200 people out. We had 6 of the families we have assisted out to join in our festivities. You will not see many picture of me in here, I'm not a person that likes the limelight ;)

It's this type of post that, in my opinion, sets this forum apart from many others.  The quality of our members is second to none.  We have a tendency to take our eyes off ourselves and place them on others who are in need.  We do it freely and without any expectation of financial gain or reward.  Just giving it back, or paying it forward, really doesn't matter.  It's all good.

Kudos to you, Brent, and to all the others like you...the unsung heros.
Until next time.

Denny

Great stuff  Brent!

I attended a similar function in my community over the weekend.  It really is special to see people come together for a common cause.  Very powerful.

Thanks for sharing.

I really applaud your efforts, I know how hard it is going through it, I am a cancer survivor... At least for now. I wasn't able to work going through chemo and radiation and I lost my truck, I sold the boat and used up my retirement to get by but we were lucky as our home was paid for and so we took a loan out and now we are beginning to get better. It took 5 years fighting disability, a sad truth is even with 2 cancer doctors, a family doctor, and an orthopedic surgeon I was still denied but the worst part was not having family or others in good enough shape to help out, we got food and some money but nothing steady and it is very hard. That being said, a charity like the one you are running is not just a charity but it is life, the thought of help allows someone in that position to just focus oh healing and fighting, instead of wondering if they will have running water or electricity. You are a true hero for doing that, it is hard and takes a lot of time so I say God Bless, you are a hero and even thogh you don't like the lime light you should still be commended because your charity is helping those that will get no other form of help, it is why I still feel a lot of bitterness toward the American Cancer Society, they were not there when I needed them and sadly it happens to a lot, God Bless you sir.
