Custom Mold
« on: 10/25/13 09:06 UTC »
Hello all!  Wilks19 and I had a custom mold made and we received it yesterday.  We have been making helgies and have been absolutely slaying the smallies and largemouth with them.  We were using a homemade Plaster Of Paris mold.  Those molds only last so long though.  We found a mold maker that was having a custom mold sale for a really cheap price as far as custom molds go.   We are really happy with the mold he made us.  Here are some pics:

Here is a side by side of the ones we were making and the new one.  It is a little different, but I am fine with that.  This way the big companies that make them cannot come after us.

I got a little crazy and went on a mass production spree:

Thanks for looking!

Chuck

SA-WEET . How are you rigging those . I normally just pinch off the round head and use a jig painted up .

Nice - any chance you'd point a few select of us to your friend to get a copy? I promise not to fish your water.

Nice mold and nice baits! I catch a lot of fish on Gulp hellgrammites on a small jig head or on a light weight drop shot. We need more "bug" type bait molds, worms, minnows, and craws are great but when the bite is real tough I catch them on small baits like this.

Sorry guys! Been kind of a crazy day. I posted this from work and then it got really busy. Anyway, thank you for the kind words. These helgies are only 2" long. My favorite way to rig these is with a #6 hook and a split shot about 12" above it. I thread the Helgie on the hook so the point comes out the body and the eye of the hook is just above the head. We had our mold made by High Rock Molds. His custom mold price is really reasonable. Sorry, sim, with this being a custom mold, we really don't want other people having it just yet. Andy, shoot me a pm and let me know what color you would like. We can work out a deal. I went out at lunch today in this cold weather we have been having in the Chicagoland area to test them out. I was able to catch a decent bass on my second cast. I kept getting hits, but no other hook ups. For the size of these, they sure catch some pretty big fish. Thanks again guys!
