found a good pot (old school deep fryer) today, tested it with canola oil the temp control is accurate and it holds the temp within about 10 degrees. gonna make my first attempt tomorrow but I have no new plastic, I have a bag of new and used baits I got from a friend, the plan is to cut them up in small chunks and melt in the pot and attempt to shoot some of the molds I purchased. wondering what temp I should expect the plastic to melt and what is the best temp to shoot at for remelt or is it the same as cooking the plastisol and I should aim for 350 or less thanks guys.

I WILL POST PICS AFTER O YOU GUYS CAN HAVE A LAUGH

You can shoot remelted plastic at any temperature as long as it is warm enough to fill the mold. Remelts do not need to get up to 350 degrees. Be careful with remelts because some of them don't have good stuff in them, just an FYI. Hope I helped a little bit at least

I'd try to get the plastic fully melted and blended at around 340-35- degrees, then drop the temp to say 330-340 for injecting. Be sure the check for signs of yellowing or burning, being sure to keep the melted product well stirred often. I'd also do an incremental drop in temp to see what the lowest temp threshold is using the cooker you have.

This is a smart move on your part, using scrap plastic to get acquainted with everything. Don't hurry yourself and take time to use all of the safety things...gloves, long sleeves, ventilation, etc....so that you can enjoy doing this exploration. Injecting plastic has a broad learning curve and I think you are a wise one in your approach here. Have fun, good luck.

Be careful with the melting of commercial baits.  Bait companies mix other products into their plastic.  There's a member on here and I can't think of his name that has a pile of experience with that.  Make sure you're in a well ventilated area and like ctom says wear your safety gear.

The plastic samples I included with your mold can be safely melted down.  It's all CCM/Do-it and no extras.  You can cut them up and shoot the creature mold.  I doubt you'd have enough to shoot the carrot.  If your bait doesn't come out, you can remelt it and try again.

Make sure you top up the sprue so you don't suck air in and you should be good.

Good luck and have fun

thanks guys, for ventilation I have a 30 " range hood ducted out the top into a 4 inch hose leading to a window, I have the window covered with 2 inch rigid Styrofoam insulation and a damper mounted to the Styrofoam that opens with the pressure from the exhaust fan on the range hood, I extended the range hood with 6 mm poly vapour barrier and the fan does 200 cfm, does this sound adequate? everything is under the hood and smoke from a match goes directly to the fan and out the duct work. any thought ?
