Daylight Savings Time
« on: 11/03/13 06:41 UTC »
We'll, here we are at the annual fall roll-back of our time. As per usual, I got up at my 5am inner alarm's calling only now its 4 am. Man this time change stinks. So I busied myself with turning all of our household clocks back an hour. Then my watches. Carole has about twenty two watches and has it in her head that watch batteries should be changed now with smoke detector batteries and that should eat up the bulk of my day today.

I'm in my mid-60's and thus far in life I have no idea why we go thru this time change. I say move the clocks back to summer time and leave the darned things alone. Hawaii and Arizona don't change their times, what is the benefit for the rest of us? Other than having more daylight hours thru the summer months is the only thing I see as a benefit, but why short us in the winter months?

MRS. Jerry V had a date with an airplane this morning so we all (dog included) were up at 4:30 am... not my usual Sunday routine.  I'm hoping that some blunt force to the "normal" like that will help me through this transition but I ain't sure yet.  She is "on the road" until Thursday and I would imagine that being taken out of "normal" for a period such as that will probably make it much easier for her.  I damn near said hell with it and went along for that reason only.  If I had a choice I would just stay on daylight savings time but whatta ya gonna do?

I'm the other way. I like the time change. The main reason is the kids get on the bus in the daylight now and not the dark. Much safer for them. The other is I like getting up and watching the sun come up. It's kind of a nice way to start the day. The last few weeks it's been dark when I left the house and by the time I get to my office the sun starts coming up. Just not the same for me. Now I can get up, sit out in the sunroom with a cup of coffee and see what God is bringing me today. It's hard to do that in the dark.

And we, too, so. At 16.00 it is already dark. Why - is unclear

Don't kid yourself Lamar. God brings lots of good things to us when its the darkest for us.

You are right on about the sunrises. I'm up early almost every day and love seeing the sun just crack the horizon. I love that moment when I am fishing on Lake Superior....

LOL ! I agree but I was talking about the weather for that day. I work a lot outside and I'm not sure about your area but our weather forecast are never correct.

Lamar...

I live in Minnesota and the old adage here is " If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it'll change". The only thing that Minnesota has more of than the 10,000 lakes is weather forecasters that are never right.
