Dumb weather.... weird.

I climbed my mountain for the last time this season this afternoon hoping to see a dumb one but I guess the dumb ones have all been taken. As I got settled in the stand I see a huge bank of black clouds rolling right at me. Then I start hearing the thunder and the wind ramps up to about 40 mph sustained. I'm thinking I should maybe get the heck off the crown of this ridge but before I can get my stuff together and get out of the treehouse it hit and hit with a vengeance. Not one drop of rain came out of this. Not one flash of lightning was seen, but the thunder was absolutely pounding. And the wind was unrelenting. As long as I was dry and as long as I didn't see any fireworks I just stayed put in the stand. What a ride. Here I am in Minnesota mid-way thru November and this is what the weather is like up here.

I hear you!! It was Missouri's rifle opener . We hunted hard but with 25 MPH wind with gust 35+ we didn't see a deer. I did see two coyotes one of which was full grown, I mean one of the biggest I've ever seen! I hope we have better luck tomorrow

Tom Here in southern Wis. It was 48 with rain on and off all day and constant high winds. Wish you better luck the next time you get out. You need some meat to go with the wine and garden treats that you worked so hard at growing this year. As always a pleasure to read your post. mike

I got a deer opening day so the meat thing is taken care of. I pulled the straps for my daughter. The rest is going into summer sausage and ring bologna that I make along with a few pounds of jerky....my health food. lol I'm done hunting for the season now. Now it getting the sausage done and all the smoking. I love working with the venison.
