Reverse Barb production molds
« on: 12/17/13 20:58 UTC »
I started casting lead somewhere back around '76-'77 with Dad's original sportsman model that he got in sometime in the early 70s.  Since then, I have accumulated a few more molds; but for long-lining in rocky areas, nothing beats the round head for being able to pop it backwards out of the snags.

Fast forward to just a few years back when I got the 3/4oz & 1oz Reverse Barb (round head) production molds so I could do away with using the of the big Erie heads when I went walleye fishing below the dams.  The main goals were to do away with single casting my jigs and to have less snags when fishing.

A totally unexpected benefit I found was how much longer the plastic lasts when their teeth aren't working in tandem with the standard barb to cut it up.  I liked this feature so much that I got a single assorted (reverse barb) mold to cast the smaller sizes... one at a time.  Boy, it sure would be nice to cast six or eight at a crack and put a little more time on the water.
