Dented baits....

....what do ya'll do with them? Me? I put them in MY box [pail]. Personally I don't have a problem feeding them to fish and as far as I can tell the fish haven't shown any aversion to eating them. If you have dents, what do you do with them?

Fish 'em! The fish don't care.

I don't mind a minor dent - I hate a hollow head - I really have to learn -
a) slow down on demolding
b) keep the spru full

Sell them as defects. People at flea market dont care. They are happy to by cheap baits.

The only time I "recycle" mine is if the imperfection effects the hook holding ability or the action of the bait. I have not found where a small dent or two has made a difference that I can discern. Now; that is coming from someone who probably couldn't tell one way or the other anyway
. If a few dents do make a difference I was in big trouble well back up the road.
Amen on the hollow heads.

Sim,
c) Hold injector pressure after the mold is full...5-10 seconds for Crappie/Panfish baits...10-20 seconds for Bass/Walleye/Inland Saltwater baits. Then top-off sprue. Dented and Hollow-headed Baits don't exist on my bench.

Yes it is, and makes for slightly bigger plugs in Your injector, also, but what comes out of Your molds will make You smile.

And You possibly can...
d) let Your plastic cool down a few degrees, shoot a little cooler. Doing this lets the plastic shrink a little (it expands as temp increases) and get a little more dense so it shrinks less once You make the shot.
