how To Clean Molds
« on: 12/28/13 12:35 UTC »
The new molds I received today have like a little black soot in them that I think might be from the CNC machine.
I was wondering what I could spray the molds with to clean them, maybe WD-40 or something else?

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and unsafe.

I wiped with a paper towel and it still got on the first pour, guess I need to wipe harder :o It might not show on darker colors but I was pouring pink. Thanks for your reply.

Try shooting some scrap through the mold a few times. I would think any kind of rag will snag on the sharp edges depending on the mold.

I give my molds a rub with alcohol on a terry cloth towel, then I give them a rub with worm oil lightly, close them and rubber-band them.

I use a product called Goof Off or Goo Gone. You can get them at Lowes or HD. They work well for cleaning molds, injectors and pots or Pyrex cups.
