MO MILK
« on: 12/31/13 17:15 UTC »
I tried to load this to the recipe side but couldn't figure out how to post pics from photo bucket. A couple folks have asked me how to make this color so here ya go. Feel free to move the post if the powers at be need to--  Qwack
MO MILK  1/4 to1/2 teaspoon violet high lite per 1/2 cup. The more high lite you use the more green and purple reflection you get.the less you use the clearer and more purple reflection . I black flake it to taste. The pics don't do it justice the reflections are hard to photo

You apparently didn't type this slow enough for me (!)... it's only violet highlight?

If so...I gotta order a bunch of that!

It makes a mean swimbait as well. You can a pinch of pearl white if you want a bait that's not quiet  as transparent. I stole your color MO, please don't shoot me :)

I've been using the Hi-Lites in a lot of my baits. I even use it on my jig trailers.

That's it Sim. If you add enough hi lite to any color it will start to appear as a pearl. If you're using X2 colors you could dip a toothpick into white about 1/8" and stir that into the clear base instead of adding so much hi lite. Pearl white would cloud the bait too much, but just a tad it of white will do a reverse smoke and when hi lite is add it hauls out a ton of reflectivity at the surface. I us a lot of this color for belly pours when I hand pour my small baits, just not as heavy on the hi lite.

Try adding a pinch of blue pearl highlight to black for jig trailers. Hold on to your rod and scotch your feet you'll get your arm broke.

I've been pretty serious with getting away from flake, myself, here lately.  Using Pearls and Hilites to add that 2nd color, instead of adding flake.  This way my remelts look better than they may with flake because alot of the flake will curl on subsequent reheats, more-so with Saltwater Baits.  With just Colorant and Pearl and/or Hilite, there's no flake to curl (or bleed) so the reheat looks better and is usually more true to the original color, again and again.

I'm getting into Hand Pouring OP molds, so no flake is a plus here as well, because the plastic has to be a little hotter for OP molds (in general terms) so it flows better...more heat = more curling/bleeding of the flake, if flake is there.

I've actually thought about selling most of my flake because most of it has been replaced by Pearls and Hilites...
