13 degrees in north Alabama right now; which is also the forecast high.  5 degrees tonight  :(.  Heat pump grinding away but not doing much at all so I am switching over to strip heat and adding a little propane heater in the den.  Ya'll stay warm.  I don't think I will leave the house today except maybe to feed the squirrels and birds.

I don't think my thermometer bumped up any higher than -18 degrees today. I have 2 gallons of windshield washer fluid in the garage that are froze solid and they claim to be good to 20 or 25 below zero. The wind has ramped up and is about as bitter as any I can recall in recent years.

It started to warm up last night. Freaky weather. It was up to -14 below at 10 pm and is now at -8 below. I heard a commotion in the yard about 9 last night and when I went to check it out I had a fox in the yard trying to jump start a cottontail. Weird stuff for sure.

Please send me some of this cold!
Up here on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula we have much to warm of weather for my liking.
I went icefishing with the wife on Sunday and it was 37* with lots of overflow. My wife nearly got her snowmobile stuck in it.
A cold snap would do us good and freeze things back up like they should be.
I would much rather have below zero right now than above freezing.
Plenty cold where I work 45 minutes northwest of Prudhoe Bay with lots of -35 to -45 not including windchill but at home it's much too warm.
I have seen -60* ambient and -100* and colder windchills at work. That is the type of cold your average guy just can't do much in.
Usually when an emergency pops up in those temps it is 15 minute shifts with a 45 minute warm up break in between.

Kasilofchrisn  -  Is your blood type Prestone ?  You are a stouter man than I.
If you don't like 37 degrees, you should come to Alabama in August.

I guess some people just prefer one climate over another. My blood type isn't Prestone but sometimes I wonder if it isn't darn close to it.
Alabama in August? No thanks! When we hit 70* I am sweating and complaining about the heat!!!!!

OK, OK, I've had it up to here (think flat hand at base of chin).  You guys have been bellyachin' for a week about a little cold weather.  Out here in California we also suffer at the whim of Mother Nature only it's far, far worse than anything you can imagine.  I know it's the wrong page, but pray for us.  Please.

It's pretty cold here, too, in SW Mississippi.  Not sure of accurate numbers, but I think it was in the Teens last night.  300-gallon Water Trough has iced-over with a little over an inch thick slab, as of this afternoon.  Weird, man.  Even the ground is frozen...I stepped on a chunk of mud that crunched...:o...man, Yawl Northern Boys can keep this cold and I'll do my part to keep the heat down here.

I'm NOT complaining, I'm just sayin'.

Things move slow in the cold.  I yawned yesterday, and by the time my mouth got all the way open, I was finished yawning...  :-X
