Hit the lake today in search of another big spot and stumbled upon this six pound even. Water temp was 44 and she was in 37 foot.

Too bad she is so skinny  :D.   Absolutely gorgeous, healthy fish.  What lake and what did you catch her on?

That is a   P..I..G....  hog... but she sure is a pretty hog.

Well done Mr. basskat, and thanks for sharing with us just how large a Spotted Bass can get.  That's a premium specimen for sure.   8)

She came from Bay Springs Lake on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. Thirtyseven feet deep on a Do-It blade bait.

Thanks for sharing that great spot Basskat! We have some pretty deep lakes where I live and would like to fish some deep drops and deep standing timber in 30+ foot H2O. What weight blade do you like that deep and can you say what colors work? Thanks..

3/4 oz most of the time. I use silver when the sun is out and gold if it's cloudy. The lead part is normally white. Not sure the head really makes a difference, it's just a reaction strike. When fishing a blade you'll catch everything, drum, catfish, whites, crappie and of course some pigs. Great winter bait.

I would have never guessed the Tenn-Tom.   Those blade baits ( and jigging spoons ) will catch just about everything.  Thanks for sharing.
