This 1.75" small fry has the usual belly and line color. The back/tail color is CCM original brown color, mixed a bit thin, 8 drops to 3 ounces. Copper hi lite and .008 copper glitter is added, then shot.

I decided to play with the brown today as I was going thru the colorants and giving them a shake. I seldom use brown as a stand alone color but love to toss this and that in it to bend it all over the spectrum. If I get time I am going to duplicate this batch twice, once using gold hi lite and the other using green hi lite.

This is the 1.75" mold. Others here may prefer the 2.25 and 2.5 but those persons are generally from further south. It will be only a matter of which size you want, but the methods I have described will work in any of them as well as just about any other mold that has a top and bottom definition. I'll go out on a limb here and say that I think every crappie angler on this site has one or more of the small fry molds in one size or more.

In addition to catching fish of all kinds, the small fry baits are the easiest to use out of the wrapper of all of the molds I own. I have NEVER had an issue with this bait or the mold. The small fry baits are hands down the easiest for the novice to master and learn to manipulate colors with. If you want to seriously expand your abilities to handle and master plastic bait injection, I would put one of these molds at the very top of your list and hand that list to every living relative you have as a birthday or Christmas gift suggestion or for just being a good guy gift suggestion.

Have you, or anyone on here, had any success with any of the fries on river smallmouth? That's mostly what I fish  for as I don't get after the crappie much haha. I think it would be possible to put on a small float and float it in the current behind rocks or in the riffles

I'm planning on using the thumper fry for smallies this summer.  I've regularly caught good fish on tiny stuff when the bite is tough, so I know any of the fry baits will do the job... as for me, I want some vibration on such a small bait.
