When you sit down to shoot a mold most often the colors have been determined. What if you're looking at different color combinations though? Do you shoot a pile of colors looking for just the right one and end up with a heap in the scrap bin? Try something else...

All of these came from one shot of orange by planning which color patterns will work with orange. When I use this approach I am only looking for color matches that work well in my mind. Some I think will work good but in practice really won't cut it. But I don't end up with a complete string of baits that is destined to the crap rack.
The picture only shows how well a lot of ground can be covered with a single injection and is not meant to show any pretties. Out of the ten created at one time here, four will make it to the next step...clear coat. Simply clear coating baits right out of the mold will bring out the best qualities of each bait, or the worst. Right out of the mold some look like heck that go the other direction with a clear coat. Yet others that that looked good enough to chew on have fallen flat on their nose after getting the clear. One never knows until they make it thru the final stage with the clear, but one thing is certain and that is that by doing color spreads like this a person can save on a ton of plastic.
