Either will work but IMO id go with injection then maybe pick a few open pours to play with. With injection you get perfect baits every time. For me, i also like a bait that is fully rounded without the flat spot.

That being said, if you ever want to play around with a design you came up with, you can make open pour molds fairly easy an they're fun to play around with. Either kind will catch you fish, but there are a lot fewer open pour molds

Injection is easier but more expensive.  I also like fully rounded baits, and I'm not sure there is a hand pour tube.  Lots of good panfish molds as well.

I also make my softbait with injection , easy to do
sometimes i make mold out porcelain powder,
that is easy, use the better quality plaster (porcelain powder), this is very hard, normal plaster hard not pretty
then you have very beautiful markings of your softbait model
I varnish the inside with 2k varnish or epoxy, your bait have a nice shiny skin

see here http://custombaits.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2086

mold hand build out plaster
hope you understand my bad written english

Do both they have their place, hand poured trick worms, jig trailers some swimbaits all have a flat side by design and the molds are cheap then commit to what type of injection molds suit you but something intricate such as a tube mold,  craw molds or grubs and U-tail worms come to mind anything with small appendages is a go for injection.

Speed equals injection.: :D But as stated there some thing that injection does solve. Like some the swimbaits depending how you like can be done better and more colors by hand pouring.
