Denny's world record bass bait
« on: 03/07/14 12:37 UTC »
I always wanted to paint a  big swim bait and Denny lives in big swim bait country so it's a perfect fit. I don't think he he knows he is getting this but oh well :) I'm going to to a step by step of the making of Denny's world record bass bait. It's going to be painted in pond smelt ( for the record I've never seen a pond smelt before) hope yawl like
9 inch Storm swim bait

Sanded ready for foil

I rough foiled this for reflection reason it. When the glue dries I will put a thin coat of epoxy so it have a smooth surface to paint

I'll keep posting as the progress takes place. I hope you enjoy - qwack out

I can't wait to see it finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  BTW, I have the 5" version, it is the Storm Kickin stick and nobody talks much about it but it is the only hard body swim bait I used that catches smallies consistently.  Denny will be a happy man but it makes it tough to even fish as it is a shame to use it as it has become a work of art rather than a fishing lure. BTW, I'm still looking at 11" of ice but it is finally beginning to melt which means jerkbaits and I have a copper crawgill jerkbait that is already tied on waiting for the day it gets the call. Good Stuff MO Qwack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are the man, Mo.  You are making me something I didn't know about and something I certainly don't deserve.  Thank you. Now, with all the polite stuff behind us...HURRY UP.  Can't wait...can't wait...can't wait.
Until next time.

Denny

Thanks guys, tom the multi layer of foil are just for reflecting light. Pond smelt are shiny little rascals. The wrinkles come out very easy.i glue the foil with Elmer's white glue the take a razor blade and smooth it all out. The white glue takes a while to set up and moves just enough to allow me to iron out the wrinkles. I purposely left a few in just for looks.
