A pondfull of'em

Here's a whole croaker get together.

I added one drop of regular yellow to a 3 ounce batch of silver pearl to get that nice banana colored belly. In the hand the belly is more on the yellow side but still a very natural looking color. The top color is 4 ounces of plastic with 2 drops of X2 brown watermelon and three drops of X2 green watermelon. A shot of .040 black hex glitter in in the plastic in lieu of hand dotting black spots.

I don't think I have ever seen a more natural looking frog color ever. In this small bait the colors fit wonderfully but in a 4" frog the colors got lost a little.

I know you say these get jumbled on bigger frogs but all these you've been posting makes me excited for my 3.5" croaker to come in!

Good looking babies.  Did you just get this mold, Tom?  Motor oil w/ black flake no hilite makes a good natural color too.  I use a pearl belly w/ bronze hilite and/or some Aztec gold pearlex to get a very natural looking pearl.  Black flake added to that sometimes as well.  I've been playing w/ the swim shad a whole lot but I really need to sit down and make a ton of mini croakers.  What I have won't last long, the wife loves this bait.  Also another great crappie bait, I think rebel makes it, is the tad fry.  Tiny little tadpole crankbait.  She is a master with that thing, catching anything from shiners to nice smallies on it.

Here is a 4" big foot and a larger croaker done in the same exact colors. You can't see it in the picture but the belly color is ok yet, but the greater mass in the bodies here really makes the watermelon mix come out darker than I like.

I had to do a test shot using these to see where the top color would take me. I can thin the plastic as a re-melt and tone it down ok so all is not lost.

And yes Nick I just got this mold. I had a mess of samples from when Jason created it and have fished them to death with pretty decent luck. I have a hard time staying away from smaller baits that I see potential in and this guy really lets me get going. I'm making a lam plate tomorrow for the mold, then watch out when the paddles get split.

Those are really natural looking froggies.  Excellent colors.
