Aqua Design...Very Fign
« on: 03/27/14 14:17 UTC »
I've been wearing Columbia gear for sun protection during warm/hot weather fishing for several years.  I like my Sage-colored Columbia, but like my Tackle Box Contents, I think I can improve something about my Threads.

I started searching for Camo Fishing Clothing and Mesh Camo Clothing, and Mesh Camo Hat and Camo Fishing Hat.  I looked through several brands and models, and settled on Aqua Design... http://www.aquadesign.com/

I 1st bought just the Hat, and when it came in I was impressed.  I went with the "Pacific Sand" color in everything...

I followed-through and bought the pants and the shirt...

The pants and shirt came in today.  This is much nicer than my Columbia.  I like these pieces a LOT and I highly recommend Aqua Design gear.

Roger on'nat, DF!

There are mixed opinions, but my experiences make me know that hiding works.  Fish see through water better than we do, and they can see quite well passed the water's end.  Natural-colored clothes are better than dark and bright colors that scream "here I am!", but camo messes with fishes' eyes like it messes with everything else.

Be quiet, appeal to their lateral line.
Hide, appeal to their eyes.

When You're fishing, You're hunting a wild, living creature that has a brain.  Get 'em!

EDIT: past/passed...ears/lateral line

And let us not forget that the main focus with this type of gear is protection from the sun...full coverage in garments that can be worn when it's hot.

Roger on Academy having nice prices, Mo.  I like Academy and it's usually best I don't frequent that place.

I was looking for something "more" this time and the Aqua Design definitely delivered.  I dig the camo!  It's the kind of pattern that makes You blink to try to focus.  I also favor Tan-colored clothing, and Tan Camo is just bangin'.

The material is a little thicker than my Columbia, and I believe this will likely be more comfortable when the sweat is running and the sun is beating down...but we'll see, GOD Willing.  I am well pleased.

I've had four different bass boats. The first two were all white. The last one was white with black bottom and this one is red and black bottom. I have become a believer in the black bottoms and stay away from white on top. It did seem to spook them more. I also try to stay away from bright color shirts or hats. If your fishing ledges in 20 foot of water it may not matter but even then if the water is clear it has to stand out more. And you guys that fish in the ocean on those flats. That's why bone are so spooky, they can hear and see you. It's kind of like squirrel hunting. You walk in the woods and see nothing. You sit down for 20 minutes and everything starts moving again. I believe fishing is the same way. Once the fish sees your boat, your done. This year I've kicked up a notch and put two power poles on my boat. I'm going to use the wind to drift me in and the poles to softly anchor me. That big 101 thrust trolling motor just makes to much noise when the fish are shallow and spooky.
I like that line of clothing Gary. Like other lines I wish they made them in talls. At 6'4 nothing fits right.

Roger on ALL that, Lamar.  Maybe I'll have to go ahead and follow-suit, putting a Stick-It Anchor Pin on my boat where Yawl put Power Poles on Yours...hmmm... 8)

I'll go knock on the door and drop this on the table...
