What's your favorite DO-IT Crappie lure?
« on: 04/19/14 12:50 UTC »
I was looking through the gallery a minute ago and seen in the crappie section more fry's with stinger tails than any other.  But it got me to wondering which do-it mold was the favorite for catching crappie.  Not color, but the bait.

So, what is your favorite?

I like the looks of all of them, but would probably say I like the swim fry the best......or maybe the thumper fry.......or the....... :P ::) ;D
God Bless!

I have caught the most on the 1.75" Small Fry. I like the Beetle Bug a lot too.

1.75" small fry.....for the time being. I also have the 2.25" and the 2.5" versions to give a workout thru the summer months so my size preference could change. I've taken crappies in both open water at all periods of the year and under the ice as well with the 1.75" small fry so really its a very universal bait for me.

I had some wild Wiley's fries tied on today.  Found them in a swap box today so the kids went crappie fishing.

Agree, the 1.75 is what I usually start with.

I haven't fished crappie much until recently with the 1.75" small fry. No huge ones yet but I definitely get them on the other end of the line more than with any other bait

Here is a left field answer.  I have caught more crappie on a 1/16th Horse Head / Pony Head jig than any other bait I have thrown.   Year round, this bait will catch fish.  Especially a marabou tail and chenille body with a nickle willow or Indiana blade ( depending on the season ).
