Got pink?
« on: 06/04/14 21:01 UTC »

A simple black belly pour and a firecracker top color that's loaded with uv enhancer and is injected. The X2 fl.pink is dotted along both sides of the black hand pour. The mold is clamped and kept flat until the injector is filled, then the mold is righted and shot very quickly to prevent the pink from running before the clear plastic goes in.

This picture does NOT do the colors here justice. It was shot in the shop using bulb light, but its still simply alive..

Here's another one featuring chartreuse and blue for the lines over a black belly.

Ok Mr. Tom, I have a challenge for you. This pattern has caught fish all over the country. LM, SM, Crappie, Walleye, Pickrel, Cats and a Muskie so far that I know of. The color scheme is right up your alley, I want to see if you can make it happen.

Top Right

Top Right

Color list,

Black on back(could use flake)
Pink
Neon Blue
Chartreuse
And the belly is similar to a Sunburst yellow.

The pattern is only painted on holographic blanks so that could be cured with flake.

The challenge is yours, I will wait to see if you accept!

You have me whipped on this one Drew. Darned tough to compare what's painted on and what's mixed and injected. Two different mediums here. I did a test shot tonight after getting home and think I have the lemon color down pretty well along with the center color, but the pink I made with a pile of Rose hi lites looked good in the cup....looked strong enough....but shot too thin to really see well. The hot pink colorant went down on the hand pour too soon and cooked on too. It takes a while for the plastic to chill and if the colorant gets dotted on when the plastic is still warm enough to set the plastisol used in the colorant it gels or sets hard.

I'll try this again in the morning. Here's what tonight's flop looks like.....

You can just see the hi lite in the top color but it needs to get booted up quite a bit to do a good job.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Try this one,

Hand pour the half of the top portion of the frog
Top: flouro pink, black 040 flake

Hand pour half the belly w/Sunburst yellow(3drops x2 chart, 2 drops x2 flouro orange) then fill the rest with clear plastic containing .015 holographic

Close the mold, clamp and then twin inject flouro blue(upper) and x2 chart(lower)

That should do the trick.

No twin injector. Your process sounds like it would work if a person had one.

A buddy stopped by a few minutes ago and really liked the pink dud so it went home with him. lol

I might be able to accomplish that beast with a 4 color swimshad.  I have no time to play though. :(

Ok Drew, here's my first attempt.  Could have used slightly less pink on the first pour; blue is darker than I wanted and maybe needs more holo silver, chartreuse yellow micro flake turned out well.
