There are tube splitter that can be bought but I generally only hear of headaches using them. A small pointed scissors is what I use to split my hand dips but I don't make or use tubes all that often so I can't hardly weigh in on scissors either. I tried a single edged razor while the tube was still on the dipping rod and had some shakey success.

The Lure craft manual tube splitter works great.. Dip every third tube in worm oil and it will keep the blades lubricated. It is designed for bass tubes... if you are making smaller tubes they have a little hand held one that work, but its not great.

Wonder if you can change the blade thickness on this tool so you could use if for cutting zonker strips???

i know each blade has a spacer inbetween it so im sure you can add spacers and remove blades for what you need.. the hand held one has the same thing but the spacers are thinner.

I'm shooting form the hip on this, but I think herb scissors would probably work fairly well for the task; the ones I've seen are less than $10, so it wouldn't be a huge loss if it didn't work... and, if they are bunk for the tubes, you could re-gift them to the missus for her next birthday.  ;)

Make one from a narrow paint roller and fabric blades, expensive but well worth it a roller splitter tops a flat cutter any day.

The tube splitter from lure craft is the way to go. It will cut tubes as small a 2.75 and you can cut a lot in a short time.
